Trump Is Again Talking To Intelligence Services About Russia
Trump is Again talking to Intelligence Services about Russia. US President Donald Trump once again contradicted his intelligence services on Wednesday.
After being asked if the United States is still the target of Russia, Trump replied in the negative.
It is in contrast to an estimate made by the head of the American intelligence services, Dan Coats, last week.
The threat of cyber attacks by Russia to impair the US was called “determined” by Coats. According to Trump, however, this threat is not present.
A Trump spokesman later stated that the president did not say ‘no’ to the question, Whether the US is yet a target of Russia, but of journalists’ request to ask questions.
“The president and his government are striving vigorously to assure that Russia cannot intervene in our elections,” stated the spokesperson.
Trump announced Wednesday that he holds the Russian President Vladimir Putin personally responsible for Russian interference.
” Just as I consider myself responsible for the things that take place in this country. ”
Trump got a load of criticism earlier this week when he chose the side of counterpart Vladimir Putin.
During a press conference after the summit meeting between the two world leaders, Trump was asked whether he believed his intelligence services or Putin.
He evaded the question and replied: “Coats came to me and said he thinks it is Russia,
Putin says it is not Russia; I see no reason to believe that it would be Russia.”
Tuesday Trump entirely came back to this. He indicated that he had wanted to say something else, namely:
“I see no reason to believe that Russia would not be.”
The US announced last week to prosecute twelve Russian intelligence officers for hacking the Democratic Party and Hillary Clinton’s campaign.
The hackers would have penetrated, among other things, the computer systems of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), the board of Clinton’s party.
Russia has always denied involvement.
