Renault Maintains Stable Sales Prices
Renault will not reduce the sales prices of its cars after the recent price cuts by Tesla. The American Tesla, struggling with disappointing sales, wants to boost demand for its electric vehicles.
However, French Renault sales exceeded expectations in the first quarter, thanks to strong demand for models such as the updated Clio, Sandero, and the electric Megane E-Tech.
“We are sticking to a policy of stable prices,” said financial director Thierry Pieton when explaining the quarterly figures. “Having said this, we have reduced costs and allowed customers to benefit from this significantly. Our new models have a higher margin and a lower price for our customers,” says Pieton.
Renault’s turnover increased slightly to 11.7 billion euros in the last quarter, exceeding analyst expectations. The group also confirmed the outlook for the entire year.
