Alaska Airlines Grounds All Planes After FAA Notification
Alaska Airlines is temporarily grounding all its aircraft in the United States after a call from the American aviation authority FAA. It is not clear what exactly is going on.
At the beginning of this year, a remarkable incident involving an Alaska Airlines 737 MAX 9 caused significant concerns about the safety of those Boeing aircraft. A door panel came loose during a flight, but no injuries were reported. After investigation, it turned out that several bolts in the panel were loose.
According to a journalist from the American channel CNBC, the new FAA intervention concerns the company’s system for calculating the weight and centre of gravity for flights, which would not have functioned correctly. In response to passenger complaints on social media platform X, the airline is working to get everyone back on the road as quickly as possible.
The January issue heralded a crisis at Boeing. Boeing has already paid Alaska Airlines $160 million in compensation in the first quarter. The incident forced dozens of planes to be grounded for some time, and many flights were cancelled. Prosecutors have also launched a criminal investigation into the matter. It has also become known that several top executives at Boeing are resigning.
