Ex-Adviser Trump Sentenced To Prison In Russia
Ex-adviser Trump sentenced to Prison in Russia. George Papadopolous, a former foreign advisor to US President Donald Trump, was sentenced Friday to a prison sentence of fourteen days for making a false statement in the so-called Russia investigation.
He is also supervised for one year and has to do community service. Also, he must pay a fine of 9,500 dollars.
” I made a terrible mistake, but I am a good person ”, stated Papadopoulos Friday.
The former adviser knew that Russia owned thousands of Hillary Clinton’s emails,
but lied to the FBI about the moment he was notified of this and about the origin of this information.
Papadopolous said he got this information before he got associated with the Trump campaign team.
However, Papadopolous was told this when he had been working as a foreign advisor for the then-presidential candidate for a month.
The previous advisor pleaded guilty last year. The special prosecutor Robert Mueller heads the so-called Russia investigation.
Papadopoulos is the second personage from the entourage of Trump who is convicted. Earlier,
the Dutch lawyer Alex van der Zwaan received 30 days in prison.
Operations manager Paul Manafort was discovered guilty of bank fraud, but he still needs to hear his punishment.
National safety advisor Michael Flynn and lobbyist Sam Patten have also admitted.
