More Than 20,000 Healthcare Workers in Germany Infected With Corona
More than 20,000 doctors and nurses in German hospitals and nursing homes have been infected with the coronavirus since mid-April.
They make up more than 11 percent of all corona cases in the country.
According to the newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung, an average of 230 doctors and nurses have been infected with the virus every day since mid-April.
Of these, 894 people had to be hospitalized and at least 60 sick people did not survive the infection.
As in other countries, there are reports in Germany and criticism of shortages of protective clothing in hospitals and nursing homes.
The number of coronavirus infections in Germany rose by 513 to 175,210 on Tuesday, according to the Robert Kocht Institut, the German counterpart to RIVM.
The organization reported 72 new deaths, increasing the total to 7,807.
The number of infections and deaths rose faster than Monday, although the numbers have been on a downward trend for some time.
