According to the reports, the meeting would be a sign that the leaders are willing to de-escalate the trade war.

The two countries are involved in a trade war and exchange rate increases on export goods.

The import levies set by the United States have a total value of some 192 billion pounds in Chinese products.

At the moment it is an import tariff of 10 percent, Trump warns to increase this from January to 25 percent.

The Chinese import duties hit 84 billion pounds of American products.

It was announced on Friday that the growth of the Chinese economy had reached the lowest point since the first quarter of 2009.
