“Apple Stops Developing Augmented Reality Glasses”
“Apple Stops developing Augmented reality Glasses.” Apple would have put its plans for its glasses for augmented reality in the refrigerator.
The responsible team would have been discontinued.
Apple would not find the time ripe for its augmented-reality glasses, insiders say.
Thanks to contacts with, in particular, Taiwanese suppliers.
Those vendors now say that Apple has stopped its augmented reality project.
The responsible team was said to have been dissolved in May.
Apple would have put the people and resources on projects with a higher chance of success.
Suppliers would have seen prototypes of the glasses and produced them on a small scale.
Apple would, however, for the time being, abandon the glasses.
Tim Cook
There have been rumours about Apple’s AR glasses for a long time, showing the real world with virtual objects over it.
Apple supports increasingly advanced augmented reality on its iPhones and iPads,
and Apple CEO Tim Cook has been discussing AR’s great promises for years.
It is striking that the usually reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said earlier this year,
that Apple would like to start producing augmented reality glasses at the end of this year or the beginning of 2020.
Kuo then said that Apple’s first AR glasses would lean heavily on the iPhone.
The smartphone had to take care of the internet connection and the rendering of images.
The headset would, therefore, function primarily as a screen.
