Apple Removes Secret Photo App During A Police Investigation. Apple has removed the Calculator smartphone app from the App Store. The app was used by teenagers to hide photos and is central to a British police investigation, reported by News Tribune.
The app was in the App Store since 2015, but according to Business Insider this week from the store. Apple did not want to respond to the incident.
Calculator looked like a calculator app but offered a secret place to store photos. Because of this, parents could not just find them when they looked at their children’s phones.
The website of Digital Mind, the developer of the app, is no longer accessible since this week.
Police investigation
The British police recently said they were investigating a case in which the app was used. Details about the issue have not yet been made known.
Many apps that are similar in function would still be available in Apple’s app store.
