Australian Teen Risks Two Years in Prison for Going Out with Corona
A 19-year-old man could face up to two years in prison for partying at a nightclub in Adelaide, Australia, while he was quarantined after a positive Covid test.
However, the South Australian Police were able to arrest him.
The teenager is accused of not following the rules regarding the corona pandemic. He was released on bail and will appear in court on February 18.
He faces a maximum penalty of 20,000 Australian dollars (12,800 euros) or a prison term of two years.
Australia is currently battling the most significant and most widespread coronavirus outbreaks, with the omikron variant showing up in every state.
The various states have meanwhile imposed new restrictions. For example, in most of the country, wearing a mouth mask is again mandatory.
