Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson, who resigned on Wednesday, will probably have another chance to form a coalition.

The Speaker of Parliament has said Parliament will decide on November 29 whether Andersson will be given a second chance. Andersson had been prime minister for barely half a day when she resigned.

There is a good chance that the Social Democrat will be allowed to make another attempt because there are no strong opponents. However, Andersson indicated on Wednesday that she would like to continue to govern without coalition partners, i.e. with only the Social Democratic Party in a minority government.

Andersson resigned on Wednesday after the Greens withdrew support for the government when a budget proposal from three opposition parties was passed. The government had just come around shortly before that. The proposal was submitted by, among others, the right-wing populist party Sweden Democrats. That was the reason for the Greens to withdraw support.
