South Korea asks Trump What Ending War Games Means
South Korea asks Trump What Ending War Games Means. The South Korean government is still waiting for clarification of the US President Donald Trump’s intention to halt joint military exercises with South Korea.
“At this point, we still have to figure out what the exact meaning is of President Trump’s remarks,” said a South Korean government spokesperson.
The Americans and their South Korean allies hold joint military exercises on a regular basis. North Korea sees these exercises as preparations for an invasion. Trump said in Singapore after his consultation with the North Korean leader Kim Jong-un that the ‘provocative’ and ‘expensive’ exercises are being suspended for the time being.
“The ‘war games’ are costly, ” stressed Trump, who said that his country is paying for most of the costs, arguing that because of the negotiations with North Korea, it is ‘inappropriate’ to hold such exercises.
