Japanese Prime Minister Abe Announces Departure on Friday
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe announces his departure on Friday, Japanese broadcaster NHK reports.
Abe would be unable to continue his work for health reasons, according to the broadcaster.
The Prime Minister was admitted to hospital for medical examinations for the second time in a week on Tuesday. According to Japanese media, it would be an ailment that Abe had previously suffered.
On Friday, Abe will hold his first major press conference in weeks, in which he will announce his resignation, according to NHK.
Abe was Prime Minister of Japan for two periods. First from 2006 to 2007 and then from 2012 to now.
