Five Omicron Infections Identified in New York
Five infections with the new Omicron variant have been identified in the American state of New York. State governor Kathy Hochul said Thursday.
“Let me be clear: this is not a cause for concern. We knew this variant was coming, and we have the means to stop the spread,” Hochul said in a tweet.
The Omicron variant was identified for the first time in the US on Wednesday, and a second and third case were already added on Thursday. With the five New York infections, this is a total of eight infections.
Every day, an average of 82,000 Americans contract a corona infection. That is a decrease compared to last week.
