‘EU Gets The Green Light To Negotiate’
‘EU Gets the green light to Negotiate a Trade agreement with Trump’. Ambassadors of the European Union have permitted to start negotiations with the United States on a limited free trade agreement, according to the reports on Thursday.
EU ministers will approve this mandate on Monday.
The purpose of the commission is to lower trade tariffs on industrial products and to prevent Americans from putting up trade barriers aimed at the European car industry.
The start of arrangements for the negotiations is being rushed due to the agreements made by US President Donald Trump,
and President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker in July 2018.
In July, the two parties approached an agreement not to create any further trade barriers.
Trump warned with this because he said the US was losing “hundreds of billions of dollars” to trade with the EU.
For the same reason, Trump chose in May to increase import tariffs on steel and aluminium from the EU.
Trade pressures flared up again this week after Trump threatened with import duties on goods from the EU, including Edam and Gouda cheese.
The Trump government said the list is a response to support for Airbus, Boeing’s European competitor.
