Big Ben can be Heard in London Again Next Year
After a facelift of the clock tower, Big Ben can be heard again in London early next year. The renovation should be ready this year but was delayed due to the corona pandemic.
The clock mechanism will be reinstalled this summer, and the removal of the scaffolding around the clock tower will start in the autumn, parliament reports.
At the beginning of next year, the big bell Big Ben will sound again in the Elizabeth Tower on the Thames in central London.
The restoration of the 178-year-old bell tower started in 2017. The restoration was initially estimated at nearly 35 million euros.
The costs have now almost tripled to more than 90 million euros. Among other things, asbestos was found.
