Philips is Increasing the Production of Medical Equipments
Philips will increase the production of medical fans in the coming period to meet the strong demand from hospitals due to the corona crisis.
The aim is to double production within eight weeks, and by the third quarter, that should be fourfold.
Philips is hiring additional staff, adding production lines and increasing the number of services for its employees.
“There is unprecedented global demand for medical equipment to help diagnose and treat patients with the coronavirus,” said Philips CEO Frans van Houten.
The healthcare technology group has production facilities in North America, Europe and Asia.
Philips does expect the coronavirus to harm its results in the first half of this year, as demand for its consumer products is hit, and the supply chain is disrupted.
The company cannot yet say how significant that impact will ultimately be.
