Germany Reports Dozens of New Coronavirus Deaths
The death toll from the coronavirus outbreak in Germany has risen by 37 to 8,711.
Another 350 people have also been diagnosed with the virus in the past 24 hours, the Robert Koch Institut (RKI) reports.
Since the start of the outbreak, the German authorities have diagnosed 184,543 people with the virus. Some 170,000 infected persons have already recovered.
The so-called reproduction number, which indicates how fast the coronavirus spreads, is 1.11. This basically means that the outbreak is on the increase again.
A reproduction number of 1 is considered a crucial limit. Then each patient infects one other person on average.
The German health authorities have warned that the reproduction number is subject to daily fluctuations.
They, therefore, measure it over seven days. According to the latest interim score, the so-called Seven-Day R is at 0.87.
