Myanmar Government Party Calls for Protest Against Coup
The National League for Democracy (NLD), the party of the arrested Myanmar government leader Aung San Suu Kyi, on Monday called on the country’s people not to accept the coup that took place on the night of Sunday to Monday.
The ruling party urges the people to protest.
“The actions of the army are turning the country back into a dictatorship,” the party said in a statement on behalf of Suu Kyi.
“I urge people not to accept this and to protest against the coup with all their hearts.”
