Tennis Player Collins Breaks Corona Rules and Has To Leave the Tournament
American tennis star Danielle Collins has been expelled from the World Team Tennis tournament. 26-year-old Collins has broken the strict corona rules.
During the event, not only did she leave the luxurious resort in White Sulfur Springs where all participants reside without permission, but she even left the state of West Virginia.
“We, therefore, sent Danielle Collins away for the rest of the tournament,” WTT tournament director Carlos Silva said in a statement.
“She broke the protocols that were drawn up because of Covid-19. Those protocols are there to protect the health of our players, coaches and staff.”
Many top tennis players take part in the mixed team tournament, including Venus Williams, Kim Clijsters and Sofia Kenin.
Collins, the current number 51 in the world and semi-finalist at the Australian Open last year, played for the Orlando Storm team.
The American had criticized Novak Djokovic last month when the number 1 in the world said to the men that the US Open could not be played with the corona protocols that the organization has drawn up.
