Israel Extends Second Corona Lockdown

Israel extends the strict lockdown measures in force due to the coronavirus until Sunday. On Thursday, the so-called corona cabinet will talk further about possible relaxation afterwards.
The Israeli government introduced a lockdown for the second time on September 18 due to the sharp increase in the number of infections. The measures were then tightened up. Shops, schools and synagogues, among other things, were locked.
Initially, the pandemic passed off without major problems due to a strict policy set by the government.
After easing, the figures rose dramatically last summer, after which a second lockdown was decided. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government has been criticized for being relaxed too quickly.
Figures from the Ministry of Health are now showing a decrease. Since the pandemic began, Israel, with a population of about 9 million has recorded nearly 300,000 infections, with 2,055 deaths from the contamination.
