Another Palestinian Killed By Israeli Troops in the West Bank
On Monday, Israeli forces killed a Palestinian man in Hebron, in the West Bank. The Palestinian Ministry of Health reports that tensions in the Middle East have been running exceptionally high for several days.
The victim, a 26-year-old, was shot in the head on Monday morning, the Palestinian ministry said in a brief press release. The man was sitting in a car near the Ibrahimi Mosque in central Hebron when soldiers fired live ammunition in his direction at a checkpoint.
He was taken to hospital but succumbed to his injuries. The Israeli army reports that it is conducting an investigation.
Since the beginning of this year, 35 Palestinians have been killed in the latest flare-up of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Among those, 35 are civilians, including minors, but also perpetrators of attacks. On the Israeli side, six civilians were killed, including a minor.
Violence escalated again late last week after the deaths of nine Palestinians on Thursday in an Israeli army raid in Jenin.
