Warmest October Since the Start of Measurements in Spain
October 2022 was the warmest October in Spain since the start of official measurements in 1961. The Spanish government announced this on Monday.
The average temperature of 18 degrees was 3.6 degrees above the average value for the reference period 1981-2010,” according to the Ministry of Ecological Transition.
The warmest October months so far were 2020 (+0.6 degrees above average) and 2017 (+0.3 degrees), according to the ministry, which is based on measurements from the National Meteorological Agency (Aemet).
October was also a particularly dry month in Spain, with 68 percent less precipitation than normal. As a result, for the period from January to October 2022 will be the fourth driest year since the start of measurements, with 26 percent less precipitation than usual.
