Toyota Apologizes to Family of Employee Who Committed Suicide
Japanese car group Toyota Motor has apologized to the family of an employee who committed suicide after being repeatedly humiliated and intimidated by his boss.
The company has reached a settlement with that family about the matter.
The 28-year-old engineer committed suicide in 2017 because of the humiliation he had to endure in the workplace.
His boss is said to have told him, among other things, that it was better if he died. His death was recognized as work-related by a regional labour commission in 2019, and Toyota settled with the family in April.
No details about that have been disclosed.
