The Vietnam Authorities Evacuate 80,000 Tourists From Danang
The Vietnam authorities evacuate 80,000 tourists, mainly Vietnamese, from the coastal city of Danang.
The reason is the identification of three corona infections among residents of the city. These are the first cases identified since April.
The evacuation is being tackled with a hundred flights a day to more than ten Vietnamese cities. The operation will probably take four days.
Danang is a popular place for holiday-loving Vietnamese. In addition to sights in the city, there are amusement parks and beaches that are among the most beautiful in the world.
Vietnam has taken stringent measures from the outset against the spread of the virus from neighbouring China, and much has been tested for the virus. In total, only 420 infections were diagnosed, and no patient died.
The country of 95 million inhabitants currently has about 55 people who have the virus among its members, and these are not severe cases.
