Sri Lanka Attacks Tearing Families Apart: No Words can Describe This Pain
Due to the terrorist attacks during Easter celebrations in Sri Lanka, entire families have been torn apart. Who are these people? A selection from the families affected.
Happy family members, smiling, with a great Easter breakfast in front of them. Just before the attacks at the Shangri-La Hotel, Nisanga Mayadunne posted another family photo on Facebook. “Easter breakfast with the family,” she added with a happy smiley.
Not much later, Nisanga and her mother Shantha, a well-known Sri Lankan TV chef, died in one of the eight bloody attacks in Sri Lanka. It is unknown how the rest of the family is doing.
On Facebook, a family member confirmed the death of the two women. “No words can describe this pain. We love you.”
A friend of Nisanga, who was studying with the young woman at the university, says she is in shock. “Nilanga was a trendy woman,” she told Gulf News. “And she was brilliant.”
