Mass Demonstrations on the Gaza and Israel Border are Cancelled
Mass Demonstrations on the Gaza and Israel Border are Cancelled. The massive Palestinian demonstrations scheduled for next week on the Gaza-Israel border are cancelled.
Fears of the spread of the coronavirus have made organizers decide to call off the marches.
The so-called big march for the return should have started on Monday.
“We call on our people not to go to the camps on March 30 but to stay at home to ensure the safety of our people in this deadly pandemic,” said a senior member of the Islamic Jihad fighting group on Saturday.
Palestinians in the Gaza Strip have been protesting along the border with Israel for months.
They want to return areas from which their ancestors were expelled in 1948 during the foundation of the State of Israel.
