Facebook Launches Twitch Competitor For Live Streams
Facebook Launches Twitch competitor for Live Streams of Games. Facebook has released a central place for live streaming games. The platform will broadcast live and bundled previously published gaming videos.
The platform should make it easier for users of the social network to discover gaming videos. Facebook will also use the page to share messages from the game industry and promote e-sports, competitive gaming.
For the time being, the central location is in a test phase. In a blog, Facebook writes that the company wants to experiment with new options, such as a timeline, better suggestions for videos and support for more languages.
With Facebook Gaming Video, the social medium is competing with, among others, the live stream platform Twitch. This platform was taken over in 2014 by retail giant Amazon for nearly 1 billion dollars.
Also reported, that in January Facebook declared that it would start with a partner program whereby gamers would be paid to live stream.
In the coming months, the social medium will expand the enterprise with a program that will support starting live streamers.
