Coca-Cola Benefits from Sugar-Free Products. Soft drink producer Coca-Cola increased its turnover by 5 percent in the first quarter, by selling more products at slightly higher prices. Especially sugar-free products were favorite. Total sales, however, fell by 16 percent due to the divestment of the bottling activities, published by Dawn News.
The turnover amounted to 7.6 billion dollars. According to Coca-Cola, there was an increase in sales for all product groups in all regions.
The group is also a manufacturer of brands such as Sprite and Minute Maid. The company is increasingly focusing on sugar-free drinks such as Coke Zero and Diet Coke to respond to the trend for healthier foods. Coca-Cola expects organic sales to grow by around 4 percent this year.
The American group posted a net profit in the books of almost 1.4 billion dollars, against just 1.2 billion dollars in the first three months of 2017.
