Chinese Web Giant Alibaba is Working on Self-Driving Cars
The Chinese web giant Alibaba is working on the development of self-driving cars. That confirms a spokesperson for the company to the South China Morning Post. The company officially joins the Chinese internet giants Baidu and Tencent, who also invest in technology.
According to the newspaper, Alibaba is currently conducting regular tests with self-driving cars, posted by City News Journal. The company’s technology would already be able to enter the public road in tests.
Ultimately, Alibaba wants to make a car that can not drive entirely, but in most circumstances, autonomously. Baidu has the same goal. Tencent leaves little to date with his plans.
In the United States, taxi company Uber and Google sister company Waymo are testing their self-driving cars on public roads. In the cars, there is still a driver, who can intervene if things go wrong.
