Airlines Help UNICEF With Transport Vaccines
Airlines Help UNICEF With Transport Vaccines. UNICEF launched the so-called humanitarian air freight initiative on Tuesday.
More than ten airlines partner with the UN organization to supply and distribute Covid-19 vaccines, drugs and medical devices for 145 countries.
“The delivery of the vaccines is a large and complex undertaking, partly due to the large volumes, the high number of planned deliveries and the diversity of the routes,” emphasizes Etleva Kadilli of UNICEF. “We are grateful to the airlines for their cooperation.”
More than ten airlines are committed to distributing vaccines and medical supplies. The intention is that they help ensure a “fair” distribution of the vaccines, says the child welfare organization.
According to UNICEF, during the first quarter of 2021, vaccines will be distributed in 145 countries to inoculate a total of 3 percent of those countries’ population.
