Retired Canadian Top Soldier Who Fights in Ukraine is Accused of Rape
Retired Canadian general Trevor Cadieu, who is currently in Ukraine fighting the Russian invasion, is accused of sexual assault at home. This is reported by the Canadian authorities.
Cadieu is accused of two assaults dating back to his time as a Canadian military school cadet in 1994. He is alleged to have raped a female student, among other things. The complaint is the result of a months-long investigation into a “toxic culture” in the Canadian military and is now being turned over to civilian authorities.
Cadieu was named Chief of the Canadian Army in September, but that appointment fell through due to the ongoing investigation. Cadieu retired in April. Then he would have gone to Ukraine to fight against the Russian invasion.
An email to Canadian media said Cadieu is aware of the charges and is now “preparing to return to Canada”.
