Global Shipping Industry Faces New Emissions Levy

The International Maritime Organisation (IMO) has introduced a new global levy on shipping emissions, set to take effect in 2026.

Shipping companies will be required to pay fees based on their carbon output, with the funds reinvested into green maritime technologies.

While environmental groups welcome the decision, shipping firms warn of higher costs that could be passed on to consumers. The move is expected to reshape supply chain strategies worldwide.
