At Least Four Deaths in the US Shooting Including A Child
In Orange, USA, south of Los Angeles, at least four people, including a child, were shot dead on Wednesday. It is the deadliest shooting in town since 1997, local police said.
The shooting took place in an office building a few miles from Disneyland theme park, located in nearby Anaheim. American media reports that two people were taken to hospital with injuries. Among them, according to the police, is the person suspected of being the shooter.
The police fired shots at a business park and said afterwards that the situation has “stabilized”. The owner of a car company told The New York Times that he first heard about four shots. A few minutes later, the police surrounded the building, and the shooting continued. Then at least ten shots were fired. Nothing is yet known about the motive behind the shooting incident.
Politicians were shocked at the deadly violence. “Terrifying and heartbreaking,” said California Governor Gavin Newsom. He spoke on Twitter about a ” tragedy” and said he sympathized with the relatives.
The United States was repeatedly startled by bloody shootings last month. For example, eight people were killed in Atlanta on March 16. Less than a week later, ten people were killed when a man started shooting at Boulder’s supermarket.
