The US Purchases Another 200 Million Corona Vaccines
The United States has purchased an additional 200 million doses of corona vaccine, and President Joe Biden announced Thursday evening.
In addition, Biden strongly criticized the vaccination policy of his predecessor Donald Trump.
The US government has signed contracts for an additional 100 million vaccines from the pharmaceutical company Moderna and 100 million additional vaccines from Pfizer. Biden reported the purchase after a tour of the National Health Institutes.
The president asked Americans to be patient. “For now we will not be able to arrange everything, but we will arrange it,” said Biden. Due to the shortage of vaccines, many Americans who are already eligible for vaccination have trouble making an appointment for vaccination.
Biden said that former President Trump had ordered insufficient vaccines and had not done enough to get people to get vaccinated. “While scientists were doing their job developing vaccines in record time, my predecessor — to put it bluntly — was not doing his job,” said the president.
According to Biden, the vaccination program was “in a much worse shape” than he expected. “It is time to improve this,” he said. The US government has now purchased enough vaccines to vaccinate all Americans, Biden asserts.
