California Wildfires are Driving Thousands of People From Their Homes
In the US state of California, a forest fire southeast of Los Angeles has driven thousands of people from their homes.
The fire in Orange County spread rapidly on Thursday due to the strong winds, forcing nearly 25,000 residents to be evacuated as a precaution, the fire department reported.
Thursday evening (local time) the fire was only 10 percent under control.
The current California wildfire season is the most devastating ever in terms of area. More than 16,100 square kilometres of land have been destroyed since the commencement of the year.
Thousands of families went up in flames, and dozens of people were killed. If drought and strong winds continue, the situation is expected to worsen further in December.
